Ujjayi Breath

“The body is my first prop. The body is a prop to the soul.” – BKS Iyengar.

The Ujjayi breath is a form of breath control, Pranayama technique, that soothes the nervous system and has a profound relaxing effect on the muscles. It is known to sound reminiscent of the ocean waves or victorious, depending on how you regulate the breath. 🌊

It can be activated when postures, asanas, are held for an extended period of time. It can help deepen a stretch, give length to the muscles and strengthen the whole body. It also engages the energy locks, bandhas, during transitions from one pose to the next. 🪷

Soul Warrior also teaches other Pranayama techniques and these are all explained and demonstrated in class. Check this space for upcoming introductions to Pranayama in themed classes! 🩵
