Winter Wellness: Joy for your Practice ✨️

It has been a tough few weeks with the long nights (literal ❄️😴 and at work! 🎧🎶), planning classes and organising a new practice schedule.

Getting back into a steady flow after celebrating Christmas and spending time with Family can sometimes be challenging, especially if you felt alone or unwell.

Wherever you are on your journey, find a space, any space, and take 5 minutes to try locking into a new routine before the New Year.

It was fun to go onto the mat yesterday and see where the flow took me. I started my 5 minutes with some energised steps, arm raises and gentle turns for a pre warm-up. It helped motivate me and inspire me to continue the rest of my practice. ✨️

Working with this positive energy brings joy to your daily practice and prepares the mind and body for the frosty weather too. I am now looking forward to each time I will be practicing in the cold weather! I hope you will too. ❄️

This short 5 minutes helps you set an intention in that moment and brings courage and kindness into the next day ahead. 🙏🩵

Winter Wellness: Peace for your Christmastime 🎄

Our next full moon is known as The Cold Moon 🌝 It will be at it’s peak on Thursday 4th December, in only a weeks time! 🗓 Approaching mid-winter, after the days become shorter, the temperature can drop quite suddenly. ❄️

This week so far has been pretty cold and here are a few things I noticed that helped me stay ontop of my practice… 🧘‍♀️

The air outide is sharp, but brisk and energising. Perfect for a run to build heat and maintain your yang energy! 🏃‍♀️ The cars peacefully light-up the roads and soon the houses will be decorated for the upcoming holidays too (how exiting!!). Exercising in these colder conditions can help keep your body healthy and your mind alert too. Running can be a great way to explore your strength and find balance. ⭐️

No running or night gear? You can still go on evening walks following the street lamps! Slowly build the amount of time you spend outside. Bring a flask of hot cocoa or malted barely! 😍 Notice what nature is around you. What are the colours of the leaves on the trees? 🌲 Which berries are on the bushes? 🫐 What animals do you meet? 🦊 Would you bring a notepad next time to sketch or write a letter? ✏️ How are you inspired? ✨️

In an indoor environment that is not your usual practise space? Roll-out your mat next to wherever you are! 🙏 Cleanse this space daily and practise some slow restorative yoga, layer-up and use your tools and props to help you feel cosy. Make it your safe place for this winter. 🩷

Most importantly, whatever you do, rest as much as you need. You have the strength to meditate and manifest your goals in these moments, and you may find you do them sooner than you think! 💪

How has your practise changed this past week? 💭

    With love,
    Louisa 🩵
