    Winter reflection 2026 πŸ“–β˜•οΈ

Hello everyone! As some of you may know, this past month Soul Warrior has been instructing weekly Vinyasa Yoga classes at Bannatyne Health Club & Spa in Solihull. πŸ’šπŸ§–β€β™€οΈ

In January members joined together to set their New Year intentions, to find courage and be kind to their body during practice this year. 🌱🌠 Some members also participated in Soul Warrior’s first Ashtanga Led class to get back into the swing of self-practice, after spending time with family, celebrating and resting over the Christmas holidays. It was such a pleasure to teach everyone who joined on that special day! πŸ’ͺ✨

We are currently half way through our February flow β€˜Embrace’ 🌼. We have been working on a peak-pose flow (Bow Pose and Camel Pose) that soothes and opens the heart centre, to help ground and nurture our mind and body during this month of celebrating love for others as well as ourselves. There are still a few classes left at Bannatyne Health Cub & Spa if you would like to join in too! πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

We were welcomed into this February with the energy of the Full Snow moon. 🌝 On the first Sunday we took a short pause out of our normal flow to re-connect to our roots, find stillness and cultivate resilience. Members took part in a themed Vinyasa flow with guided meditation to get through the final push of Winter. πŸŒ²β„οΈ Soul Warrior has been fortune to share Restorative Yoga classes too as we have began to start closing and reflecting on this season. πŸͺ¬πŸŒ’

As we are shift into the beginnings of Springtime, next week Soul Warrior will be stepping outside the gym and holding a pop-up lunchtime Vinyasa class at Oliver Bird Hall in Solihull! πŸŒ–πŸŒΏ Reset and return to your day focused, nourished and balanced with this well-rounded Vinyasa flow. You can drop-in on the day or book your space online here – all levels are welcome! πŸ’–

I want to say a huge thank you to those who have been turning-up each week to classes this past month. It continues to been a very challenging journey but incredibly rewarding to step out onto the mat to connect and share these practices with you all. πŸ™πŸ©΅

Ashtanga Primary Series: Benefits of a Pre Warm-up πŸͺ·

It has been a tough month with the long nights, planning classes and organising a new practice schedule! Getting back into a steady flow after celebrating Christmas and spending time with Family can sometimes be challenging, especially if you feltΒ alone or unwell. β˜• Take a pause in your day now and make a cup of tea (if you have not already got one!!) and continue reading…

Wherever you are on your Ashtanga Mysore journey, find a space today, any space, and take 5 minutes to setting a fun intention for the New Year. 🌠

I chose to unroll my mat yesterday around midday and see where the decision took me. I spent my 5 minutes doing energised steps, arm raises and gentle turns. This is now apart of my daily practice routine in 2026, a pre warm-up. It was perfect to balance out the for cold air blowing in from the garden and it helped to motivate me and inspire me to start daily Ashtanga practice immediately after. ✨️

Working with this positive energy has many benefits, some being bringing joy to your daily practice and others by preparing the mind and body for stretching in winter weather. I look forward to each time I will be practicing in the frosty weather now! I hope you will too. ❄️

This short 5 minutes helps you learn how to set an intention and whatever the outcome, this small act will give you courage for and bring kindness into your year ahead. Bring your tea, maybe put some music on, roll out your mat, have your journal nearby and enjoy! Namaste. πŸ™πŸ©΅

Tips for at home practice πŸ‘

To prop or not to prop? πŸ’

Practice with awareness, wherever you are. πŸ™πŸ©΅

βœ…οΈ Listen out for the key or aim of a pose that you really enjoy in class… What is your overall goal from practising this at home? Would a prop support you in achieving this?

βœ…οΈ Take this home, create an avenue of personal progress. Explore to your capacity, practise and have fun!

βœ…οΈ Attend the next class with this new edge, and continue to seek comfort. You could be ready for the next step in just a few weeks!

βœ…οΈ Journal your progress when you can, it may even lead to further inspiration!

Your body will thank you for listening. You will find ease, peace and joy in being kind to your limits. Keep breathing too! Nourishing your body with oxygen will help you to relax more, to enjoy the present moment. πŸͺ·

Join us at local gyms and community centres – bring your practice journal along too! Stay for a cup of tea and quiet time to reflect after class. β˜•πŸ˜Š

  • Winter Wellness: Embracing the cold! πŸŒβ„️

Winter Wellness: Embracing the cold! πŸŒβ„️

Our next full moon is known as The Cold Moon 🌝 It will be at it’s peak on Thursday 4th December, in only a weeks time! πŸ—“οΈ Approaching mid-winter, after the days become shorter, the temperature can drop quite suddenly. ❄️

This week so far has been pretty cold and here are a few things I noticed that helped me stay on-top of my practice…

The air outside is sharp, but brisk and energising. Perfect to start a routine to get moving. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Whether it is walking, yoga or running, building heat helps maintain yang energy which keeps balance under the full moon. The passing cars peacefully light-up the roads houses are decorated for the upcoming holidays too. Exercising in these colder but cosy conditions can help keep the body healthy and the mind alert, ready for the winter ahead! β˜•

Embrace the cold! Explore your strength and find balance. ⭐️

No night gear? You can still go on evening walks following the street lamps! Slowly build the amount of time you spend outside. Bring a flask of hot cocoa or malted barely! 😍 Notice what nature is around you. What are the colours of the leaves on the trees? 🌲 Which berries are on the bushes? 🫐 What animals do you meet? 🦊 Would you bring a notepad next time to sketch or write a letter? ✏️ How are you inspired? 🎨

In an indoor environment that is not your usual practise space? Roll-out your mat next to wherever you are! πŸ™ Cleanse this space daily and practise restorative yoga, layer-up and use your tools and props to help you feel at ease. Make it your safe place for this winter. 🩷

And most importantly, whatever you do, sleep as much as you need. When your body rests it can recover. Meditate and manifest your goals in these moments, and you may find you do them sooner than you think! ✨

Feel at peace and connected to this local community. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ
